Dr Annika Clements is a Lecturer in Marine Biology at the School of Biological Sciences at QUB, who has also worked in a range of different sectors, including NGOs, government and applied marine research. Dr Clements has over 20 years’ experience in the field of applied marine science, with specialisms in benthic ecology, habitat mapping and habitat suitability modelling, and a particular interest in marine policy, nature-based solutions, interdisciplinary working, stakeholder engagement and restoration science. Dr Clements has provided evidence to support designation of multiple Marine Protected Areas within Northern Ireland as well as offshore UK and oversaw the first native oyster nursery project in Northern Ireland. Dr Clements has contributed expertise at an international level via International Council for the Exploration of the Seas (ICES) Working Groups (Marine Habitat Mapping, and Nephrops surveys) as well as contributed to a number of national committees such as the Healthy and Biologically Diverse Seas Evidence Group, the NE Atlantic Marine Biological Analytical Quality Control scheme and the UK Fisheries Improvement Project steering group (Nephrops). Dr Clements is a member of the UK Restoring Meadow, Marsh and Reef (ReMeMaRe) steering group, and is currently supervising 2 PhDs working on marine restoration.ine.
